300 jaar geleden ontdekte de vader van de microbiologie, Antoni van Leeuwenhoek, een bijzondere bacterie: Treponema denticola. Nu, 3 eeuwen later, werpen we nieuw licht op dezelfde bacterie dankzij de hypermoderne microscopie technieken van het NeCEN (the Netherlands Centre of Nanoscopy), en brengen we de bijzondere eigenschappen van dit diertje naar het publiek.
300 years ago, the father of microbiology, Antoni van Leeuwenhoek, discovered a remarkable bacterium: Treponema denticola. Now, 3 centuries later, we shed new light on the same bacterium thanks to the state-of-the-art microscopy techniques of NeCEN (the Netherlands Centre of Nanoscopy), and we bring the unique characteristics of this microorganism to the public.
