We leven in een wereld van microben maar we kunnen ze niet zomaar zien. En zelfs onder een microscoop is het niet zo eenvoudig, je moet zorgvuldig een preparaat maken en weten hoe je het apparaat op de juiste manier instelt. De projecties zijn een verbeelding van bacteriecellen zoals die te zien zijn onder een microscoop. Pottenkijker biedt hiermee een fictief kijkje in de toekomst waarbij de mens nòg dichterbij kan komen en het DNA van de cel met detail kan zien zitten. Het werk vraagt de aandacht voor de schoonheid en het belang van bacteriën. De cel-opbouw is namelijk niet alleen een esthetisch kunstwerk maar ook van groot belang voor de mensheid omdat deze een belangrijke rol speelt bij het succesvol gebruik van antibiotica of bijvoorbeeld het maken van strategieën voor de ontwikkeling van vaccins. Elke Pottenkijker heeft andere glazen potten, hierdoor is elke projectie uniek.
