THE MOON GOOSE ANALOGUE: Lunar Migration Bird Facility

Enter the world of Agnes Meyer-Brandis, a German artist whose work elegantly floats between fact and fiction, art and science, gravity and weightlessness. In this talk, she presents the story behind her renowned project Moon Goose Colony, in which she raised and trained a group of geese for imaginary lunar migration — a poetic-scientific journey inspired by a 17th-century space fantasy.

Trained in mineralogy and fine arts, Meyer-Brandis combines sculpture, new media, and research into captivating artistic experiments. As founder of the Forschungsfloss FFUR – Institute for Art and Subjective Science, she creates “tools to search” that question how we perceive and explore the world.

In her work, data becomes poetry, and exploration becomes imagination. From parabolic flight experiments with the German Space Agency (DLR) to installations and performances about flying, floating and falling, Meyer-Brandis transforms scientific methods into emotional and philosophical reflections.

This lecture is a journey — to the edge of the known universe, to the border of serious science and whimsical speculation, and back again.
