A feelding in the field between two powerful planets

Een bolvormige straal van iriserend licht schiet langzaam naar voren uit het huid-verhulde pijnappeloog in het midden van hun voorhoofd, ontmoetend, verstrengelend, steeds hoger groeiend en uitbreidend tot het een krachtige, hemelhoge regenboogkleurige Keltisch kruis-hologram vormt; op het exacte moment van stress-halo-uitputting worden ze spontaan gecollectiviseerd door het kosmische equivalent van de spanning die een bel zijn bolvormige vorm geeft, en als één zweven ze naar de verste diepten van sterrenloze ruimte.
Voor deze editie van Nacht van Ontdekkingen en Dagen van Days of Art&Science hebben Karl Karlas, Adri Peralta, Maaike van Everdingen en Sam Wilson Fletcher (allemaal leden van het Leidse kunstcollectief ROEM) een reeks kunstwerken gecreëerd, waaronder installaties, film en audio. Deze kunstwerken zijn gebaseerd op uitgebreid onderzoek in samenwerking met de Hortus Botanicus in Leiden.
A bulbous bolt of iridescent light projects slowly forwards out of the skin-concealed pineal eye at the centre of each of their foreheads, meeting, twining, growing ever upwards and expanding to form a powerful sky-high rainbowed Celtic cross-hologram; at the exact instant of stress-halo exhaustion, they are spontaneously collectivised by the cosmic equivalent of the tension that gives a bubble its spheroid form and as one flit into the furthest depths of starless space.
For this edition of Night of Discoveries and Days of Art&Science, Karl Karlas, Adri Peralta, Maaike van Everdingen and Sam Wilson Fletcher (all members of the Leiden-based art collective ROEM) have created a series of artworks—including installations, film, and audio—that draw on extensive research carried out by each artist in collaboration with Leiden’s Hortus Botanicus.
