Wist jij dat stamcelonderzoek levens kan veranderen, maar tegelijkertijd prachtige kunst oplevert? De deelnemers aan de reNEW ARTxSCIENCE competitie laten jou zien hoe dat werkt!
Binnen reNEW streven we ernaar het leven van patiënten te transformeren, met teams in Leiden, Kopenhagen en Melbourne. Voorbeelden van ziektegebieden waar we aan werken zijn hart- en vaatziekten, genetische spierdegeneratieve ziekten en type 1 diabetes. Met de ontwikkeling van menselijke stamcelziektemodellen en cel- en gentherapieën willen we deze ziekten aanpakken en een verschil maken voor chronisch zieke patiënten. In de ARTxSCIENCE-competitie sturen reNEW-wetenschappers mooie afbeeldingen van hun wetenschap in die tegelijkertijd een verhaal over hun onderzoek vertellen.
In deze sessie stellen we de prachtige inzendingen van de ARTxSCIENCE-competitie tentoon en geven we je het wetenschappelijke verhaal achter de kunstwerken. Na de sessie kun je beslissen: wie laat de beste ARTxSCIENCE-samensmelting zien? Met jouw stem help je niet alleen onze Leidse onderzoekers hun kans op winnen te vergroten, maar je maakt ook kans op het winnen van enkele artistieke merchandise voor jezelf!
Gedurende de hele maand september worden alle inzendingen van onze drie locaties online tentoongesteld op de website www.renew.science, waar je hun verhaal kunt lezen en kunt stemmen op jouw favoriete bijdrage. Op 11 oktober, de Stemcell Awareness Day, zal de winnaar worden bekendgemaakt op de website en onze socialemediakanalen.

Did you know that stem cell science can change lives, but is astonishingly beautiful at the same time? The reNEW ARTxSCIENCE competition participants are here to show you how that works!
Within reNEW we aim to transform the lives of patients, with teams in Leiden, Copenhagen and Melbourne. Examples of disease areas we work on are cardiovascular diseases, genetic muscle degeneration diseases and type-1 diabetes. With the development of human stem cell disease models and cell and gene therapies we aim to tackle these diseases and make a difference for chronically ill patients. In the ARTxSCIENCE competition, reNEW scientists submit beautiful images of their science that at the same time convey a story about their research.
In this session we will exhibit the beautiful image submissions in the ARTxSCIENCE competition and provide you with the science story behind the art. After the session you can decide: who shows the best ARTxSCIENCE fusion? With your vote you are not only helping our Leiden researchers to increase their chance of winning, but you will also be able to win some artsy merchandise yourself!
During the entire month of September, all submissions of our three locations will be exhibited online on the website www.renew.science, where you can read their story and vote on your favorite contribution. October 11th, Stem Cell Awareness Day, the winner will be shared on the website and our social media channels.
