PHYSICS IN PICTURES -
Bas Hensen
LOCATION: OBSERVATORY
LABEL: TALK
TIME: 21:30
In his lecture, Bas Hensen takes you into the fascinating world of modern physics. He explains the Physics in the picture exhibition about liquid crystals, double refraction and spheroids that can imitate real tumors.
The images not only highlight groundbreaking science, but also intriguingly illustrate the complicated and often invisible aspects of our universe.
Bas is a researcher at Leiden University, at the Leiden Institute for Research in Physics. He leads a young, dynamic research group that conducts experimental physics research. They try to understand the interface between the physics of the largest and smallest things in our universe: general relativity and quantum mechanics. Both theories have already proven themselves, but there is not always agreement.
